BA follows Exeter NHS lead
0 commentsBusiness analysts have obviously been keeping a keen eye on the public sector, trying to find innovative ways to save money as BA asks it's staff to work for free.
The pilot program (no pun intended) ran by the NHS in Exeter which saw over 6000 if it's staff go without pay in April is being rolled out by British Airways and could save the company a fortune, although they have made the unconventional move of asking their staff if they actually wanted paying.
NHS bosses were presumably not so interested in their staffs opinions as the staff weren't even told they wouldn't be getting paid, ensuring a 100% uptake in the program.
Willie Walsh, the chief executive of the airline, who earns £735,000 a year, can probably afford to take a few months unpaid, unlike the rest of the staff who earn a fraction of that amount, but then how will he be able to afford those solid gold golf clubs?
