Blind, psychic dog cut free from gate
0 commentsA fire crew from Teignmouth was dispatched to free a blind dog that had got it's head stuck in a metal gate.
The crew were called out to Hermosa Road where they discovered Jack, the Springer Spaniel, stuck with his head through his owners gate.
It only took 5 minutes for the crew to cut the poor spaniel free, removing sections of the gate with cutting tools.
His owner, Theresa Collier, began to worry when she called him in so she could go shopping in town. She explained to the local paper how the drama unfolded.
"I went into the garden and could see him at the end of the garden with his tail wagging.
"I called again but he still did not come and when I got there I saw he had his head stuck right through the gate.
"As I was trying to free him the gate came off its hinges so there I was stuck with him and the gate.
"I managed to get the gate back on and then called for help and those very nice firemen came and they soon had him out."
Although the dog is blind, through a hereditary condition, she said that Jack "could sense a cat and ran after it" and that's when he became stuck.
Watch commander Matt Moses led the fire crew that freed Jack and he added that "once we freed him, he was running round barking so it seems he was happy to be released. His owner was a bit stressed".
I'm not surprised. Have you seen the prices of gates lately? (No, me either - Ed)
