£51k for invisible bus service
0 commentsThe Isles of Scilly has pulled a fast one on the government and secured a massive 51 thousand pound grant for a bus service that doesn't exist.
The lack of a bus service didn't stop the council from applying for the grant, which covers 640 of the islands 2100 inhabitants, to get them around the 10 miles of road the island has.
This, of course, is leaving other councils short, including our very own city council who will have to honour the bus passes of visiting Scillyites from it's own purses should they come to visit.
It's indicated that Scilly will use the grant to give elderly residents discount boat trips between the islands and is considering a free taxi service, although it's unclear if our own OAPs will receive the same treatment should they visit the island.
