We're all going to die tomorrow

09/09/08 - 1 comment

There's no point getting your will in order, just kiss your loved ones goodbye tonight and prepare for the Armageddon.

Some time between 9 and 10am tomorrow morning scientists will be injecting the first particle beam into their brand new shiny particle accelerator buried deep beneath the French/Swiss border.

The Large Hadron Collider, apparently the "largest and most complex scientific instrument ever built" is designed to investigate the first moments of the universe by lobbing particles at each other and seeing what happens.

Some people feel that this will create miniature black holes that will suck the entire planet in, killing us all. Even if that doesn't happen there could still be a catastrophic nuclear explosion that rips the crust of the planet apart producing a massive super-volcano in the centre of Europe, draining the planet's precious hot gooey filling, killing us all.

On a positive note, if it does all go tits up and we do all die horrible painful deaths as are bodies are pulled apart by the tidal gravitational forces, the French will be the first to go.

Fuck me, this afterlife is just like normal life still raining and everything, or.....do I have to wait until October to meet our grisly end.

Managed to get a "last minute on earth" shag out of it though - nicely done!
