Evil board game confiscated by the rozzers
0 commentsA board game designed in Cambridge was confiscated by overzealous police during a protest in Kent near Kingsnorth power station last week.
Police ceased knives, chisels and bolt cutters from protesters, but they also took away the board game War On Terror, which includes a balaclava in the box.
Police took the balaclava, with the word 'EVIL' emblazoned on the front in bright red lettering, fearing that it "could be used in a criminal act".
In the game each player starts as their own empire, each filled with good intentions and a determination to liberate the world from terrorists and each other. Once the reality of world politics kicks in, terrorist states emerge and players must battle to regain control from each other.
A spinner in the centre of the board can determine if a player's state become a hotbed of terrorist activity and the player must wear the balaclava for the remainder of the game.
Kent police said they had confiscated the game because the balaclava "could be used to conceal someone's identity or could be used in the course of a criminal act".
One of the game's creators, Andrew Sheerin, had this to say: "It's absurd. A beard can conceal someone's identity. Are the police going to start banning beards?"
He's got a point. What's that shift bloke doing over there. He's a little too beardy for my liking, grab him boys!
