Inspector Frost is to be killed off due to complaints that the portrayal of the police is unrealistic.

The cheerful and friendly Inspector Frost solves crime using his detective skills and common sence, tools no longer employed by the force.

The author, Rodney Wingfield, belives that replacing him will be possable enabling the novels to continue, and ITV has hinted at a new series.

The writer has re-written the final draft of his sixth Frost novel to include Jack's long-lost younger brother John, a biggoted and racist man who will arrest anyone that 'fits the bill'.
