Can we go home yet?
0 commentsAnother Saint Georges Day and still no national holiday. What's wrong with this country?
It's that time of year again and the day put aside to celebrate English-ness in it's entirety, but yet again the politically correct brigade are afraid of offending everybody with our display of patriotic-ness.
As they say on StGeorgesDay.com: "other countries all over the world celebrate their patron saint or have other days, the closest to us and probably the most well known is Saint Patrick's Day for Ireland! This day is celebrated all over the UK and also widely in the USA, what about Burns night for Scotland, for a well celebrated Scottish poet where the toasting of his words culminates in the eating of haggis, why then can we not have our own patron saint's day?"
We should be flying the flag proudly, not hiding in the shade afraid of appearing racist. National pride is not racism, although these days it seems we've got precious little to be proud of.
so far, over 1 million people have voted for St. Georges Day to be a national holiday, after all, we have the least holidays in Europe, and there seems to be some interest in it from politico's as well, so get on over there and make your voice heard too...
