Like taking a shotgun from a baby
Currently there is no legal age limit for owning a gun, once licensed, but a founder member of 'Mothers Against Violence' said she would like to see the force introduce a minimum age.
Ms McKie, whose 20-year-old son, Dorrie, was shot and killed in Manchester in 1999, believes any young person who applies for a firearms permit should be required to pass a competency test, both practical and theory.
Now call us insensitive, but the chances are that a gun used in a street shooting in Manchester is probably not going to be licensed. In fact, I find it hard to imagine that any gang related drive-by has ever used a licensed firearm.
It's far more likely that a gang would acquire a handgun or semi-auto weapon (both of which are already illegal to own) by somewhat nefarious means, but then the government has already decided that letting the public make their own decisions is hazardous to our health.
You've already taken away our decorative Samurai Swords (yes, I forgot to buy one last month, now we never can) so why are you getting your knickers in a twist over legally owned weapons when there are far more important things to be worried about?
