American van-surfer runs naked through traffic

A man is being cared for after being catapulted from the roof of his vehicle whilst van-surfing before running naked along the free-way.

"I've never seen anything like this in 22 years," West Reading police Detective Joseph M. Brown said of the incident. "It is not a common call we get as police."

The man from Reading, USA, apparently was driving along the West Shore Bypass (Route 422) when he decided to leave the wheel and clime on top of his moving minivan shortly before it crashed into a guide rail, cartwheeling him into the woods.

For most people this would have been enough, but this fearless (or pissed) example of humanity then climbed back up the verge, stripped naked and started to run through the traffic.

"He was waving his arms in the air like he was lost or he was on something," said witness Les Miller. "It wasn’t like a panicked look on his face; he was just in a daze."

"You want to help other human beings out if they’re injured, but part of me, I didn’t know what kind of mental state this person was in," he said.

Miller did find time to snap a photo with his cell phone camera as he drove past though so we can all have a giggle.

When police responded to calls from motorists who weren't busy taking photos, they used three separate jolts from a Taser and pepper spray to subdue the nude man.

When the Taser had no effect police eventually resorted to tackling the 38-year-old, who had a large gash in his side from the accident.

It's unclear how to contact his dealer.
