Yesterday was national pull-a-sickie day

If any of your colleagues weren't around yesterday because they called in sick, chances are they just didn't feel like coming to work and weren't sick at all.

Apparently new surveys suggest that the first Monday in February is the worst day of the year for absenteeism, leading it to be dubbed National Sickie Day.

It's estimated that around 30,000 staff failed to turn up for work yesterday due to post-Christmas blues, poor weather, credit card bills and a long wait for the next holiday.
