Ava Estelle, 81 from Melbourne, Australia, is not your average granny. When she found out the horrific new that her 18-year-old grand-daughter had been raped she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons down and shot off their balls.

Having exacted her revenge she calmly got into a taxi and handed herself in at the local police station where she told astounded officers that "Those bastards will never rape anybody again, by God."

After her granddaughter, Debbie, was car-jacked and raped in broad daylight by two knife-wielding creeps in a section of town bordering on skid row she figured the law would go easy on them so planned to exact her own brand of justice.

Using a police sketch of the assailants the SuperGran spent days trawling through the neighbourhood slums where the attack took place. When she found what looked like the guys she took a picture and confirmed with her granddaughter that they were the guys.

"I went back to that hotel and found their room and knocked on the door and the minute the big one opened the door, I shot 'im right square between the legs, right where it would really hurt most, you know.

"Then I went in and shot the other one as he backed up pleading to me to spare him. Then I went down to the police station and turned myself in."

Police say the convicted rapist and robber Davis Furth, 33, lost both his penis and his testicles, when outraged Ava opened fire with a 9-mm pistol in the hotel room. Doctors managed to save 29-year-old Stanley Thomas' mangled penis, but he won't be using it again the way he used to.

If only everyone's grans had handguns. The world would be a much safer place.
