Jail time for Facebook user

05/10/07 - 0 comments

It's easy enough to do, you're faffing around with a new application that's been added and inadvertently Facebook scans your email address book and all of a sudden you've sent requests to everybody you know.

Unfortunately for Dylan Osborn one of those addresses was for his ex-wife, who he had been ordered by magistrates not to contact after sending a slew of messages to her after they split up.

Upon receiving the request Ms Tarbox contacted the police and Mr Osborn found himself spending a brief stint in chokey.

"I certainly hadn't intended to contact my wife... I didn't even know she had a Facebook account. To be honest, I don't think the judge understood how it works either.

"People on Facebook should be careful - this could easily happen to someone else."

So there you have it, if you've been harassing your ex-wife with emails and text messages, be careful you don't invite her to your friends group on Facebook. She might not take it too kindly.

Consider yourselves warned.
