When we were kids running through the streets with water pistols and cap guns wasn't exactly out of the ordinary. These days the guns are a little more sophisticated, just ask Brodie Pearsall, who faced 10 armed police and their attack dogs.

Brodie had been showing off his replica HK G36C to his mates when a 'concerned citizen' phoned in a report of a gang with guns.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called to Harcourt Road shortly after 9pm on Tuesday night following a report of group of youths, some with a firearm."

The gun is not a particularly accurate replica, but identifiable, although sales should be restricted to over 17s only, even then it should not be taken on to the streets.

Ms Pearsall said her son was left in floods of tears after the incident on Tuesday as officers had spoke directly to him the whole time without asking his mother to relay a message.

She now plans to make an official complaint, although what she was doing giving a child a 'replica weapon' to take out to play isn't exactly obvious, especially as she may have committed an offence herself as the "person supervising a person under 18 and allowing him to make improper use of air weapon".
